Survivor of endometrial cancer, Willa shares her cancer journey and experience as a clinical trial participant.
Willa shares, “I think that for African Americans especially, there was a concern about what happened at Tuskegee. I happen to be a granddaughter of a nurse who worked in Tuskegee during that period. These trials are not that. There are so many safeguards for patients, and you can always opt out [of a clinical trial]. There have been so many protections put in for patients. And the physicians and researchers are well trained. So, I really believe in this kind of work.”
