Meet Judy: Esophageal Cancer Survivor
Judy came to our West family after she and her husband moved from Florida to Memphis post-retirement. While in Florida, Judy was at high risk for developing esophageal cancer and received frequent screenings to ensure early detection. She was ultimately diagnosed with Stage IV esophageal cancer and would have her entire esophagus surgically removed soon afterwards.
Judy’s journey has been challenging, but she attributes her resilience to the support of her family, friends, and faith.
Once recovered and living in Memphis, Judy now visits our East Memphis campus regularly for follow-up scans with Dr. Bradley Somer. Since her time at West, Judy has not experienced a recurrence!
Life has changed for Judy since diagnosis. She channeled her newfound strength and perspective to become a women’s image consultant, aiming to help others feel confident in their own skin.
Judy encourages fellow patients to open themselves up to receive support. She believes everyone has a community of people who genuinely want to help and walk with them through this journey.
Congratulations, Judy! We appreciate you for sharing your story
