The West Cancer Center is establishing a new 501(c) 3 charity for cancer research.
Announced earlier today, The University of Tennessee/West Institute for Cancer Research will work to raise funds for adult cancer research in Memphis.
The first step in the fundraising process is a $2.5 million gift from the Plough Foundation, which will be used to establish the Translational Drug Discovery and Development Center of Excellence.
“Abe Plough, my grandfather and founder of the Plough Foundation, believed that you did the greatest good when you helped the greatest number of people,” said Diane Rudner, chairman of the board of the Plough Foundation. “Today, that very mission is further realized by the Foundation’s commitment to the efforts of The UT/West Institute.”
