This new aspect of someone’s journey through cancer can be overwhelming, especially if patients and families don’t know what to expect. Our West Cancer Center team has put together a short expectation video, shown below, to share detailed information on what to expect for our patients’ infusion treatments.

*Infusion or chemotherapy treatments are not part of every patient’s care plan*

All of our West Cancer Center clinic locations are now encouraging patients scheduled for infusion to have their lab drawn 1-3 days before treatment. Patients can get their labs drawn at any West clinic location that is most convenient for their home or work.

Our schedulers will work with patients to choose treatment times that work best for their schedule. Separating lab draws and infusion treatments offer a variety of benefits to patients including eliminating the 1+ hour wait time between lab draws and treatment where our providers must wait on lab results, then analyze results and approve results before infusion drugs can be mixed by our pharmacy department.

For questions or more information, patients can speak with their care team or schedulers about this new process.
