Gabriel Aleixo, MD

About:

Dr. Gabriel Aleixo earned his medical degree from the University of Western São Paulo (UNOESTE) in Brazil. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, followed by a Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his clinical training, he earned a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) from the University of Pennsylvania.

An accomplished physician-scientist, Dr. Aleixo has a strong passion for advancing cancer care through research, with particular interests in geriatric oncology, health equity, and the impact of body composition on cancer outcomes. His work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals, and he serves as a reviewer for several leading oncology publications. His many honors include the ASCO Merit Award, the ASH HONORS Award, and the prestigious $100,000 ASH Hematology Inclusion Pathway Fellow Award.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Dr. Aleixo brings a unique ability to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds. He and his family chose to make Memphis their home because of West Cancer Center’s patient-centered approach to care and the opportunity to collaborate with our outstanding team of hematologists and oncologists.
