Dr. Axel Grothey will present new research at this year’s ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology – Gastrointestinal Cancer Congress in Munich, Germany, highlighting an innovative approach to improving diagnosis for patients with carcinoma of unknown primary (CUP) and other diagnostically complex cancers.
As lead investigator, Dr. Grothey collaborated with West providers Heather Greene, MSN, FNP, AOCNP and Lan Tran, PA-C, who served as co-authors alongside colleagues from Guardant Health.
The poster, “Plasma-Based DNA Methylation Profiling for Tumor Type Prediction in Carcinoma of Unknown Primary (CUP) and Complex Presentations,” explores how plasma-based DNA methylation profiling can help identify a tumor’s origin when traditional diagnostic methods face limitations. In this real-world study, the technology demonstrated high concordance with clinicopathologic assessment, supporting its use as a complementary diagnostic tool that may help clinicians make more timely, informed treatment decisions.
Congratulations to our team and their collaborators on sharing this important research with the international oncology community.
