About Me

Dr. Noam VanderWalde is an Associate Professor, in the Department of Radiation Oncology, and the Medical Director of Research Operations at the West Cancer Center and Research Institute. He is also Co-Chair of the IRB for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. VanderWalde received his MD at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He received his Masters in Epidemiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.  Both in the clinic and with his research, Dr. VanderWalde focuses most of his time on the treatment of older adults with cancer receiving radiotherapy. He sits on multiple US-based national committees, including the NRG Oncology GI Committees (colorectal and non-colorectal), the Rectal-Anal Taskforce of the GI Steering Committee for the National Cancer Institute, the Cancer in the Older Adult Committee for the Alliance for Clinical Trials Cooperative Group, and the Older Adult Working Group for NRG Oncology. He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Geriatric Oncology.
