Biography

Dr. Obaji is Board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine, and licensed to practice in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. He attended the Aleppo University, School of Medicine where he received his medical degree. After graduation, Dr. Obaji relocated to Memphis to complete his Internal Medicine Residency and Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis. Before joining West Cancer Center, he maintained a private practice in the areas of Hematology and Medical Oncology for two decades in Memphis, TN and West Memphis, AR. Dr. Obaji is honored to continue in his career as part of the West Cancer Center team, which offers the best care possible under one roof: using the most advanced science, research and technology with compassion and the highest ethical standards. Dr. Obaji is a devoted Father of two and adores his loving wife, Rola. In his spare time he loves reading, travel, community service and participating in interfaith conferences.

Education and Training

Dr. Obaji earned his Medical Degree from Aleppo University in Syria. He did one year of clinical research with Dr. Abbas Kitabachi and Dr. Cynthia Buffington as the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Following his clinical research, Dr. Obaji went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency and Hematology/Oncology Fellowship, also at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

Cancer is a disease that not only affects the patient, their family and their friends, but it can also have a direct impact on his own personal community. As an Oncologist, Dr. Obaji strives to cure the patient’s disease while at the same time providing the best possible quality of life during and after the treatment. Dr. Obaji is guided by traditional spirituality that he believes, when used properly together with medical knowledge, provides overall total wellness and healing.
