RESEARCH SUPPORT

RSNA R&E Foundation Resident Grant, PI 07/01/16 – 06/30/17 #RR1677 Near-Infrared Spectroscopy of the resting brain for predicting neurologic outcomes in the unresponsive patient. Despite many advances in critical care, the medical field still lacks an objective measure of brain activity in comatose patients. In this study, we applied a noninvasive method using light absorption to correlate resting state network connectivity with subsequent neurologic outcome in coma patients.   NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program Grant 09/01/06 – 06/30/09 #NNX06AH25H The Biophysics of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS): Potential for portable functional brain imaging. By analyzing covariance of cortical NIRS signal with electrophysiological measurements in primates performing cognitive tasks, this investigation elucidated the neural origins of NIRS and helped facilitate its utilization for portable functional-imaging.
